Summary #

To view videos on espn.go.com you need to make the following changes in SecureSchool.

Procedures #

To stream videos on espn.go.com you need to create a firewall rule.

  1. Go to “Firewall” > “Protocol Rules” > “Add a Rule”, and add the following rules:
    • Name: ESPN Videos #1
    • Type: Allow
    • Protocol: TCP
    • Source Address: Filter Set (Select Appropriate Filter Set)
    • Source Port: leave blank
    • Destination Address > Type Host name:  site.caster.espn.go.com
    • Destination Port: leave blank
    • Click “Add Protocol Rule” Button

    • Name: ESPN Videos #2
    • Type: Allow
    • Protocol: TCP
    • Source Address: Filter Set (Select Appropriate Filter Set)
    • Source Port: leave blank
    • Destination Address > Type Host name: core.caster.espn.go.com
    • Destination Port: leave blank
    • Click “Add Protocol Rule” Button
  2. Next make some authentication exceptions. Go to “Website Filtering” > “Authentication Exceptions”
    • Add an entry for espn.go.com
    • Add an entry for secure-us.imrworldwide.com
    • On the Authentication Exceptions page, make note of which filter set is being used for filtering Authentication Exceptions (noted in the bright teal box)
    • Go to “Website Filtering” -> “Website Access”
    • Select the filter set that you noted as being used for filtering Authentication Exceptions
    • Go to “Add a Site” and add an entry for “espn.go.com” to be unfiltered
    • Commit your changes

Note that the changes above will allow all users to access the ESPN website and content since there will no longer be user authentication for espn.go.com. If you only have a few users that need to access ESPN Videos then you do not need to make the changes above. You can disable password authentication for individual users by adding their workstation’s IP address to an IP Group by following the steps below. Note that if you use an IP group then that IP address should always be assigned to the same workstation. Make sure that workstation has a DHCP reservation or has a statically assigned IP address.
