How to Set Up a WireGuard VPN from Home to School

< 1 min read

Need secure remote access for staff or students? SecureSchool makes it easy with built-in support for WireGuard VPN. Here’s how to set it up:

1. Enable WireGuard on Your SecureSchool Appliance #

  • Go to VPN Services > WireGuard Server
  • Check the box for “Use WireGuard”
  • Enter an IP pool that won’t conflict with your school’s existing network.
    • We recommend using 192.168.230.0/24

2. Add VPN Clients #

Each device that connects needs its own client configuration.

  • Open the Clients tab
  • Add one entry per device.
    • Example: If Fred wants to connect with his desktop, laptop, and phone, you’ll need to create three clients (one for each).

3. Install the WireGuard App #

Download the WireGuard installer for your device from https://www.wireguard.com/install/

WireGuard supports just about everything:

  • Windows
  • macOS
  • iPhone / iPad
  • Android
  • Linux
  • Even EdgeOS (Unifi)!

4. Connect and Go #

Once installed, import the configuration file for each device. That’s it — you’re ready to connect securely to your school’s network from anywhere.
