Java Updater & Installer

Table of Contents

Summary #

The Java Updater runs in the background on any PC that has the Java JRE installed.  Most times, it does not authenticate to SecureSchool correctly.  This can show up as an authentication pop-up as soon as you login to the PC.  To allow Java to update and remove this pop-up, you need to make an Authentication Exception.

More Information #

To allow the Java Updater to run without requiring a user to enter a username or password, you need to add some Authentication Exceptions.  Go to “Website Filtering” -> “Authentication Exceptions” -> “Add A Site”.  Add an entry for:

  • sun.com

Once you add the entries, go to “Commit Changes” and restart.  The Java Updater will now work without user intervention.
