Summary #
Some schools need to reach the Caimber testing site. If access is blocked, add two hostnames to your allow list so the site and its file uploads work correctly.
Domains to Allow #
Add both of the following entries:
- caimber.com
- caimber-incoming.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com
Why two?
caimber.com serves the main site; caimber-incoming…amazonaws.com is an S3 endpoint Caimber uses (e.g., for uploads/attachments).
Steps (SecureSchool) #
- Log in to the SecureSchool Administrator interface.
- Go to Website Filtering → Website Access.
- In Add a Site, create the first entry:
- Site/Domain: caimber.com
- Action: Allow
- (Optional) Applies To: choose All Users or select the specific Group(s) that need access
- Notes: Caimber testing – main domain
- Click Save.
- Repeat step 3 for:
- Site/Domain: caimber-incoming.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com
- Action: Allow
- Notes: Caimber testing – S3 endpoint
- Navigate to Commit/Restart, select Services, and apply the changes.
Validate #
- From a student or test device, visit https://caimber.com/ and perform a sample action that previously failed (e.g., sign-in or upload).
- Confirm pages load without block pages or timeouts.
Notes & Best Practices #
- Be precise: Add the exact hostnames above—no wildcard is needed.
Troubleshooting #
- Still blocked? Check Logs & Reports → Web Logs for any additional blocked hostnames related to Caimber and allow as needed.
- If issues persist after allowing both domains and committing, contact K12USA Support with the time of the test and the user/group involved.
