Summary #

Google Drive is a service provided by Google to store files in the Google “cloud”. There are two different “versions” of Google Drive: a web version and a program that runs on your PC or Mac.

More Information #

The Google Drive program for the PC / Mac only supports unauthenticated proxies. It does prompt for a username and password, but it does not pass that information on to SecureSchool. Google provides a list of sites that are required to not require authentication. Follow the steps below to make the sites authentication exceptions.

  1. Add the following to Authentication Exceptions:
    • Website Filtering > Authentication Exceptions > Add A Site
    • Site IP or Net Address: drive.google.com
    • Reason for Change: Allow Google Drive
    • Submit
    Repeat the above steps for the following list of domains:
    • googledrive.com
    • docs.google.com
    • tools.google.com
    • accounts.google.com
    • sheets.google.com
    • slides.google.com
    • talk.google.com
    • gg.google.com
    • script.google.com
    • google-analytics.com
    • apis.google.com
    • googleapis.com
    • googleusercontent.com
    • gstatic.com
    • clients1.google.com
    • clients2.google.com
    • clients3.google.com
    • clients4.google.com
    • clients5.google.com
    • clients6.google.com
    • pack.google.com
    • plus.google.com
    • pki.google.com
    • clients.google.com
    • m.google.com
  2. Add the following to Port Access Rules:
    • Website Filtering > Port Access > Add An Allowed Port Rule
    • Port: 443
    • Type: SSL/HTTPS
    • Site: drive.google.com
    • CHECK – Also add as an unfiltered website.
    • Submit
    Repeat the above steps for the following list of domains:
    • googledrive.com
    • docs.google.com
    • tools.google.com
    • accounts.google.com
    • sheets.google.com
    • slides.google.com
    • talk.google.com
    • gg.google.com
    • script.google.com
    • google-analytics.com
    • apis.google.com
    • googleapis.com
    • googleusercontent.com
    • gstatic.com
    • clients1.google.com
    • clients2.google.com
    • clients3.google.com
    • clients4.google.com
    • clients5.google.com
    • clients6.google.com
    • pack.google.com
    • plus.google.com
    • pki.google.com
    • clients.google.com
    • m.google.com
  3. Commit Changes and Restart Services when finished.
